!WHY: It's our 5 Year Anniversary! Since 2006, the Immigrant Workers’ Union has been working to improve the living conditions of immigrant workers in Madison and Dane county.IWU works in many related areas, recognizing that those directly affected must be the agents of lasting, meaningful change. In addition to our ongoing projects, 2010 was the first year of a very successful summer youth program during which over 25 local high students completed well over 1,000 hours of community service. We also worked closely with independent parents’ organizations that successfully helped stop major proposed cuts to bilingual services in the Madison School District. All of this in addition to our ongoing projects such as: Know your rights workshops, 1-800 Help Line, Black Latino Unity Project, regular community forums, Parents’ Summits, May Day, and more.

Most importantly, 2011 promises to be a difficult year

We need your help to stop Pridemore’s Racist Arizona-style law!
